Tonight's Performance of ''Merry Wives of Windsor'' Canceled

Released: 04/25/2007

Tonight’s performance of “The Merry Wives of Windsor” at LSU Alexandria is canceled due to inclement weather. This performance will not be rescheduled.

In case of bad weather on Friday or Saturday, the play may be rescheduled for Sunday.

The play is part of LSUA’s annual Shakespeare-on-the-Greene, a Festival of Renaissance, which will be held Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28, from 2:30-7 p.m. at LSU Alexandria.

Performances begin at sundown through Saturday on the outdoor stage in the LSUA quad. Playing the lead roles are Robert Harper, Lisa Mayeux, John David Hebert II, Brittanie Holloway, Tracy Loe and Marc Daniels.

The afternoons will include various activities including food booths, used book sale, art demonstrations, live music, mini-plays, historical re-enactments, games, belly dancers, and arts and crafts. More than 30 vendors from the community will have booths with their paintings, handmade goods, jewelry and other goods available for purchase. Various activities for youth will also be available.

Festival-goers are invited to dress in period costumes. Admission to the festival is free, and organizers stress that this is a family friendly event.

Festival-goers also will have the chance to participate in several other major events that will be happening on campus during Shakespeare-on-the-Greene.
