Lecompte Sophomore Wins Ms. LSUA Crown

Brandy Katrina Roberts of Lecompte was crowned Ms. LSU Alexandria 2007 during the university’s 47th annual pageant Saturday night.

Roberts, 19, was among five contestants who competed for the title. An elementary education major, she is the daughter of Carlton Roberts of Lecompte and Angel Roberts-Freet of Pineville.

Roberts wins a Chancellor’s Scholarship worth $1,000 and the opportunity to represent LSU Alexandria during the 2007-08 school year. She was crowned by Ms. LSU Alexandria 2006 Kerra Marcotte.

In addition to the top award, audience members voted Roberts the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

The other contestants were Rita Nicole Davis, Terris Kay Rubenstein, Jamie Caitlin Davis and Terry Gordy Guillory.

Jamie Davis won First Runner-Up, while Rubenstein won Second Runner-Up. Jamie Davis was named Ms. Photogenic and Ms. Congeniality. The Director’s Award went to Rita Davis, and the Scholastic Achievement Award went to Guillory.

Roberts, a sophomore, is a member of Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana, Circle K and Baptist Collegiate Ministries. Her platform topic was "Foundation for the Future: The Importance of a Positive Influence in the Life of a Child." Her mentor was Donna Odom-Lacaze.
