Ceremony Marks Groundbreaking of LSUA's First Student Housing

Released: 10/23/2006

On Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m., LSU Alexandria will hold a brief ceremony celebrating the beginning of construction for the first student housing project on the LSUA campus.

The Oaks, an apartment complex dedicated to housing LSUA students, will be located on the newly renamed Acorn Drive, formerly known as Water Tower Drive. The ceremony will be held directly across the street from the Weldon “Bo” Nipper Building. Members of our local legislative delegation and other elected officials will join the LSUA campus community in recognizing this milestone.

The Oaks apartment complex symbolizes another step in expanding the university to its fullest potential.

“This is another major step forward in the development of this university,” said Chancellor Robert Cavanaugh. “LSUA will now have more opportunity to recruit students from a wider region. Our students will now have a broader array of activities and opportunities available that only an on-campus residence can provide.”
