Calling All Poets: Open Mic Night set for Oct. 27

LSU Alexandria and The Louisiana Council of Teachers of English are co-sponsoring an Open Mic Night for aspiring poets on Friday, Oct. 27 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Alexandria Museum of Art.

Alexandria native and published novelist/poet Hope Coulter will serve as master of ceremonies for the Open Mic Night, and LSUA associate professor of English Dr. Steve Jackson will perform briefly.

This free event which is open to the public is in efforts to “help the community move toward an environment that is more lively and diverse,” said Dr. Bernard Gallagher, coordinator of the Open Mic Night.

Coulter is also speaking at on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 12 p.m. in the Holiday Inn Convention Center. This event is open to the public. Lunch, which includes grilled sirloin, will be provided at a cost of $11. The public may still attend the event even if they do not wish to purchase lunch.
