LSUA Alumni & Friends Holds Free Gumbo Dinner for Public

Released: 10/13/2006

This year, LSU Alexandria’s Alumni & Friends Association is opening their fall social to the public free of charge.

On Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex on the LSUA campus, AFA will hold a Gumbo Dinner for all LSUA alumni and friends in the community.

This informal event gives the public an opportunity to visit the campus, enjoy good food and entertainment, and socialize with other alumni and friends of the university, according to Mary McCampbell, coordinator of the event.

“We encourage all of our alumni and non-alumni friends to come out for the free festivities,” McCampbell said.

To attend, reservations must be made with McCampbell by Wednesday, Nov. 8.

At the dinner, the public will have the opportunity to become members of the Alumni & Friends Association. For $25 a year, members have access to several LSUA services, including the campus swimming pool, weight room and tennis courts, as well as reduced rates at the golf course. AFA members may also receive discounts in the cafeteria or sign up for discounted meal plans. Membership also includes a subscription to the Alumni & Friends Association newsletter, which highlights former students.

To make reservations by Nov. 8 or for more information, contact McCampbell at 427-4418 or 473-6472.
