Dr. Rhonda Shook''s "Thunderstruck in Possum Grape" to be presented at LSU Alexandria

Released: 10/03/2006

The Empty Space Players’ next production already holds a special place in one person’s heart on the LSU Alexandria campus.

The LSUA theatre group will present “Thunderstruck in Possum Grape,” a play written by their own Director of Theatre Dr. Rhonda Shook, for two weekends in October. Performances are scheduled for Oct. 12-15 and Oct. 19-22 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 205 of the Fitness Center on the LSUA campus.

Complete with a Harley-riding tattooed doctor, a cross dressing garage mechanic, and a UPS-dependent witch, this comedy follows lightning strike victim and amnesiac Kya McKennon in her attempt to escape the bizarre southern town of Possum Grape despite the protests of the town’s wacky citizens.

“Thunderstruck in Possum Grape” first debuted professionally in 1999 at Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio under Bill Kincaid’s direction.

Admission is $4 for LSUA students; $6 for LSUA faculty, staff and senior citizens; and $9 for the general public.
