Alumni social, museum open house June 22

Released: 06/12/2006

The LSU Alexandria Alumni and Friends Spring/Summer Social will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Alexandria Museum of Art/LSUA Downtown.

The evening will include music by Valerie Harper and food by ABL Catering and will serve as the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the museum, which was recently acquired by the LSUA Foundation. The museum is located at 933 Main St.

The event is offered free to AFA members and is open to the public. All 2006 paid Alumni and Friends members who attend will be entered into a drawing for an LSUA gift basket that includes the chancellor’s football tickets and parking pass to an LSU game. Foundation staff and volunteers will be on hand during the event to assist individuals with renewing membership in the AFA.

The association holds social events every year, giving members a chance to see old friends, meet new ones and hear updates about the university.

Membership to the Alumni & Friends Association is $25 a year, and the cost includes numerous benefits. Members get access to many LSU Alexandria services, including the campus swimming pool, weight room and tennis courts, as well as reduced rates at the golf course.

Members also become subscribers to the Alumni & Friends newsletter, which highlights what former students are doing today.

Anyone with questions about AFA membership should contact Linda Smith or Missy LaBorde in the Foundation office at 318-473-6472.
