LSU ALEXANDRIA OFFERS CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR LOGGERS

<p>LSU Alexandria and the Louisiana Forestry Association are proud to announce a partnership to provide approved, quality continuing education classes that meet Master Logger continuing education requirements. <p/> <p>The course “Minimizing Ruts and Soil Erosion” is being offered on Friday, March 12 from 8 until 11 a.m. Jerry Daigle, NRCS, will be the instructor. The fee for the course is $40 and pre-registration is required. This course qualifies for 3 CLE for Master Loggers. <p/> <p>The focus of the workshop will be how to use soil interpretations as a tool for evaluating existing conditions in planning and predicting the soil response to various systems of forest land management. <p/> <p>Discussion will include management considerations addressed by the soil interpretation guides. The guides contain a description of the use and the rules, properties, and evaluations used to rate the soils. <p> <p/>Some of the topics to be covered include the probability of seedling survival, competition between desirable species and other plants especially if the site is disturbed, the relative danger of erosion if cover is removed, and problems for equipment use. <p/> <p>To register or receive more information, contact LSU Alexandria Continuing Education at 473-6495 or email learn@lsua.edu.
