Festival, play, book sale moved to Sunday

SUNDAY, 2:30 p.m. -- LSU Alexandria’s Shakespeare-on-the-Green Renaissance Festival – including a performance of “Romeo and Juliet” – has been rescheduled for Sunday. Activities will begin at 5 p.m. on the university quad.

The festival, play and library book sale are rained out today. Organizer Dr. Eamon Halpin on Saturday afternoon announced that the festival will open at 5 p.m. Sunday with a performance by belly dancers. “Romeo and Juliet” will be performed at 7:30 p.m.

The library book sale also was canceled today and will resume at 5 p.m. Sunday, Library Director Jules Tate said. The library will open for business as usual at 1 p.m. Sunday.

All student, faculty and staff organizations that had booths on display Friday are encouraged to set up for Sunday’s event. The belly dancers and other live enterainment are being contacted now to set up for the abbreviated version of the festival Sunday.

The Renaissance Festival kicked off Friday afternoon and was scheduled to conclude tonight. A crowd of about 200 attended Friday’s performance of “Romeo and Juliet.”
