<p>LSU Alexandria Continuing Education is offering a healthcare workshop titled “Juvenile Diabetes 2004: What Every Healthcare Professional Should Know.” The purpose of the program is to expose healthcare professionals to the epidemiology, diagnostic criteria, managing strategies and preventive strategies for juvenile diabetes. All healthcare providers such as nurses, administrators, nursing students, social workers, and physical, recreational and massage therapists, are invited to attend. <p/> <P>The workshop will be held on Friday, March 19 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex on the LSU Alexandria campus. The cost for registration if received before March 12 is $80 for the general public and $40 for LSU Alexandria students and faculty. There is a $10 late fee for registration received after the deadline. The registration fee includes registration, refreshments and processing of contact hour credits for nurses. <p/> <p>The keynote speaker will be Barbara-Jo Schreiner, RN, MN, CDE, BC-ADM, who is the director of the diabetes education program and clinic manager of the diabetes/endocrine center at Texas Children’s Hospital. She is a national speaker on diabetes in children, teaching approaches and novel strategies for managing diabetes.
