Released: 04/07/2006

LSU Alexandria students and employees plan to walk, run and jog around campus Wednesday, April 19, to honor the memory of an adjunct faculty member who died of a heart attack last year. All donations will be given to the American Heart Association.

Dr. Ted Gard, an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Math and Physical Sciences, died in December 2005.

To honor his memory, the LSUA community will gather at 12:15 p.m. on April 19 for “Ted’s Jog.” The start/finish line will be adjacent to the tennis courts. Participants can choose to run, walk or jog distances of 3 miles, 1.5 miles or a half mile, said organizer Dr. Elisabeth Elder.

To guarantee a “goodie bag,” pre-register by e-mailing Elder at or sending your name and an e-mail address to Dr. Elisabeth Elder, Department of Biology, LSUA, 8100 Highway 71 South, Alexandria, LA 71302. The pre-registration deadline is April 12. A waiver must be signed at the event. This event is sponsored by LSU Alexandria and the American Heart Association.
