Grace Christian School student wins festival poster contest

Released: 04/05/2006

A Grace Christian School student’s painting has been selected as the official poster for LSU Alexandria’s upcoming Shakespeare-on-the-Greene Renaissance Festival.

Aimee Preuett, an 11th-grader from Dry Prong, won the competition with her artwork titled “Love’s Fatalities.” It will become the official poster for the university’s annual festival, which is scheduled for April 28-29.

The poster contest was open to area high school and college students. Aimee’s work was selected from among 14 entries.

The first runner-up winner was David Remedios, a 12th-grader at Grace Christian School. Honorable mentions went to Cindy Miller, a 12th-grader at Rapides High School, and Kayla Bustard, an 11th-grader at Grace Christian.

All of the entries are being displayed at the Alexandria Museum of Art through April 27 and then will be on display during the festival.

Aimee will receive a one-time chancellor’s scholarship to LSUA. Her winning poster will be on sale during the festival.

Shakespeare-on-the-Greene’s featured play this year is “Romeo and Juliet.” It will be presented on an outdoor stage on the LSUA grounds at sundown. The festival is held during the day and features booths, food and entertainment.
