Contest recognizes best essays on campus

Released: 02/24/2006

Are you proud of that essay that you wrote for your 2000-level class last semester? Did that essay on Shakespeare move your teachers to tears? If you’re an LSU Alexandria student, dust off those old papers and enter the university’s Student Essay Contest.

The contest will recognize the best essays written on campus, regardless of the subject matter.

Papers will be accepted in four categories: any essay from a 1001/1002-level class; 2000-level essay; a 3000/4000-level essay; and a Shakespeare essay. It is open to current students and must be something written in a class at LSUA within the past few years.

Students should submit a clean copy of an essay they wrote for a class. It should be clean, typed and double-spaced. Include a title page with the student’s name, essay title, course number and instructor’s name.

Winning essays will receive $50 and recognition at the Honors Day Convocation.

Deadline to apply is March 6. Submissions should be made to Dr. Arthur Rankin, 136 Coughlin.
