Art contest to be held for Renaissance poster

Released: 02/06/2006

High school and LSU Alexandria students are invited to put their artistic skills to the test. The university is sponsoring an Art Student Poster Contest for the 2006 Shakespeare-on-the-Greene Renaissance Festival.

The winning piece will be reproduced, printed, distributed and sold as part of the promotion for the Shakespeare-on-the-Greene Festival, scheduled for April 28-29 at LSU Alexandria. The winner also will receive a one-time scholarship to LSU Alexandria.

This year’s poster theme is “Romeo and Juliet,” the festival’s featured play.

Original artwork should be submitted to LSU Alexandria’s Admissions Office in Abrams Hall no later than March 10. Students may use any two-dimensional medium, including but not limited to pencil, watercolor, photography or digital. The work should be 14-by-17 inches.

All entries will be displayed in an exhibit at the Alexandria Museum of Art.
