Cafeteria grand opening Aug. 23

A grand opening ceremony to show off the new look and management of LSU Alexandria’s Magnolia Café will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23.

ABL Management of Baton Rouge took over the university’s food service operations on July 1. Since then, the company has been instituting changes in the cafeteria, which will be fully operational when students return to campus on Monday.

LSU Alexandria Chancellor Robert Cavanaugh and a representative from ABL are expected to speak at the brief ceremony in the main dining area.

“We’re really excited to be here,” said Food Service Director Donna Pinder, who came to LSU Alexandria from Southern Polytechnic State University in Atlanta, Ga. She said ABL expanded the cafeteria’s food offerings, adding such items as vegetarian pizza, salads and fruit cups to the menu.
