Orientation sessions July 6-8

Released: 06/15/2005

LSU Alexandria is offering two unique Campus Connection orientation sessions for students who plan to attend the university for the first time this fall.

The first session will be from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, and is open to anyone who submitted an application before the June 10 early registration deadline. It is designed as a “fun-filled day of orientation” to help new students connect with LSU Alexandria. Participants will explore the campus through breakout sessions and competitive games.

Students who are starting college after several years of being out of school may choose to attend Campus Connection on Thursday, July 7. This session is from 3-5:30 p.m. and designed to help students with their transition to college life. Students are encouraged to bring their significant others. Breakout sessions will introduce participants with ways to cope with returning to school. Topics will include juggling family and school, managing time effectively and studying.

Students unable to attend either Campus Connection session can attend a free regular orientation on Friday, July 8, in the Coughlin Hall Auditorium.

Orientation is a mandatory requirement for admission, so new and transfer students must attend at least one in order to register for classes. Those who miss the July orientations can attend sessions in August.

The cost to attend Campus Connection is $10. The fee includes lunch and a T-shirt for participants in the full-day session on July 6, and refreshments and T-shirt for participants in the July 7 session. Pre-registration is required for both. The deadline to register is June 26. Call Robin Arnold at 427-4492 for more information.
