Registration extended for Allied Health Summer Camp

Released: 06/15/2005

It’s not too late to register for LSU Alexandria’s new two-day Allied Health Summer Camp. The registration deadline has been extended to June 25.

The camp is designed to expose high school students to each of the programs offered through LSU Alexandria’s Department of Allied Health.

On the first day, students will take part in the “Emergency Room Dilemma” where they will diagnose a patient brought into a mock emergency room. Students will work in groups as they play the roles of clinical laboratory scientists, pharmacy technicians and radiologic technologists.

On the second day, students will enter the “Forensics Zone” where they will work in groups to solve a crime on campus. They’ll start at the crime scene and gather evidence to unravel the case, which promises at least one twist.

The camp is open to students entering grades 9 through 12. It will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on June 30 and July 1. The $110 cost includes materials, lunch and a T-shirt.

The camp is limited to 30 participants. To register, contact LSU Alexandria Continuing Education at 473-6495. A registration form is available on the LSUA website at
