Brandi Rabalais crowned Ms. LSU Alexandria 2005

Brandi Rabalais was named Ms. LSU Alexandria 2005 during the university’s 45th annual pageant Saturday night.

Rabalais, 26, is a speech communications major from Simmesport. Her platform topic was “Heart Disease: Raising Awareness of the Number One Killer of Women.” She was crowned by Breean Giroir, Ms. LSU Alexandria 2004.

Seven contestants competed for the title in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex.

As the winner, Rabalais received a chancellor’s scholarship worth $1,000. She also will represent LSU Alexandria for the 2005-06 school year.

In addition to the top award, audience members voted Rabalais the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

First runner-up was LeeAnn Ashley, a dental hygiene major from Alexandria.

The second runner-up was Amanda Cramer, an elementary education major from Jena.

The Ms. Congeniality Award was shared by Claire Castillo and Brittany O’Neal. Castillo is a radiologic technology major from Pineville. O’Neal is a speech communications major from Pineville.

Cramer also was honored with the Director’s Award. Castillo received the Scholastic Achievement Award. The Top Ad Sales honor went to O’Neal.

The Ms. LSU Alexandria pageant is open to all female LSU Alexandria students regardless of age or marital status. The pageant includes casual wear and evening wear competitions. An interview session by the judges was held prior to the event.

Melissa C. LaBorde, director of Institutional Advancement at LSU Alexandria, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening. Entertainment was provided by Richard Gwartney, Marlene Roney, Breean Giroir, Sarah Smith, Annie Firmin and the Grant High School Golden Dazzlers.
