Forum to focus on nursing issues

Released: 09/24/2004

LSU Alexandria is doing its part to help area nurses deal with the fast-paced, high-stress ever-changing nursing field. A public forum scheduled for Sept. 30 on the campus is designed to help nurses and potential nurses survive in today’s work environment. “Nursing in the 21st Century: A Survival Guide” will be from 3-5 p.m. in Room 106 of the Conference Center on campus. Health care providers, nurses, nursing students and the public are invited to attend. Guest speakers will be Dr. Patricia Beare, R.N., Ph.D., and Dr. Jane Sumner, R.N., Ph.D., both of the LSU School of Nursing of the LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans. They will discuss the variety of issues that a nurse faces in today’s society, ranging from stress to malpractice. A question-and-answer session will follow. For more information, contact Dr. Henry O. Robertson at 427-4483.
