Applications Now Being Taken for Leadership Central Louisiana 2004

Applications are now being taken for Leadership Central Louisiana 2004. The program, which is now coordinated by LSU Alexandria Continuing Education, focuses on leadership education and community awareness. <p> Anyone currently in a leadership position or aspiring to be a community leader is encouraged to apply for the program. A limited number of participants will be selected. The current application deadline is November 21, which is the Friday before Thanksgiving. The program is designed to build leadership and social networking skills. It includes eight one-day workshops offered monthly beginning in January 2004. The cost of the program is $750.00, which includes the workshops, lunches, and materials. All participants will receive a certificate of completion from LSU Alexandria upon graduation from the program. </p><p> The 2004 program is supported by the following community partners: Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, Arts Council of Central Louisiana, Central Louisiana Business Incubator, CHRISTUS – St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, City of Alexandria, City of Pineville, CLECO, Cox Communications, Downtown Alexandria Rotary Club, England Authority, Kistachie Delta Regional Planning District, Louisiana College, Louisiana Department of Labor, Louisiana Office of Public Health, LSU Alexandria, Louisiana Technical College, Paragon Casino & Resort, Rapides Parish Learning Center, Rapides Parish Police Jury, Rapides Regional Medical Center, The Rapides Foundation, The Town Talk, and United Way of Central Louisiana.

</p><p>“As Central Louisiana grows and management and leadership challenges become more demanding, there is more need than ever for a new standard of leadership development in Central Louisiana,” according to Lafe Jones, director of LSU Alexandria Continuing Education. “Thanks to our community partners, hundreds of Leadership Central Louisiana graduates are making a difference in our community every day.” </p><p> The leadership education topics include: Ethics and Leadership, Collaborative Leadership, Leading with Efficiency, Leading Others, Planning to Lead, Supervising and Delegating, and The Leadership Message. The program also includes community awareness and leadership topics that provides participants exposure to key community leaders and organizations. This portion of the program challenges participants to understand the needs and opportunities in the area and how to respond to the social and economic challenges in Central Louisiana.
