Programs for New Students at LSU Alexandria

In order to make the transition to college a smooth one, LSU Alexandria is offering several programs to help acquaint new and transferring students to the university. <p> LSU Alexandria will hold orientation, financial aid sessions and a special workshop for students who have been out of school for some time or are returning after an absence. Orientation is mandatory for all new and transfer students. It gives students an introduction to the policies and procedures of LSU Alexandria. After Orientation, students will go to their respective departments and meet with an advisor to register for classes. Students will be billed for tuition. No fees are due at this time. </p><p> During the Financial Aid Session, a representative will review the types of financial aid and how to apply. They will also answer questions students may have concerning financial aid. The Shifting Gears Workshop will address specific issues of the “non-traditional” student. Topics will include how to juggle family, school and work, time management, and how to succeed in college.The sessions will be held on November 11 and 12 in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex on campus. All of the programs are free and do not require reservations. Participants only need to choose one time for each session. The schedule of sessions follows: Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.-Financial Aid Session, 12:30 p.m.-Orientation; Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.-Financial Aid Session, 12:30 p.m.- Orientation, 3 p.m.-Shifting Gears Workshop, 4 p.m.-Financial Aid Session, and 5 p.m.-Orientation. </p><p> For more information, contact Admissions and Records concerning Orientation at 473-6417 or 1-888-473-6417.
