<P>LSU Alexandria’s 42nd annual Honors Convocation is slated for Monday, April 26 at 3 p.m. in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex. The Honors Convocation is an opportunity for the University to recognize and reward students for their achievements. Friends and family are invited and the public is also welcome. <P/> <P>Sissy Franks, director of Outpatient Services at Rapides Regional Medical Center, will be the guest speaker for the event where awards will be given to approximately 90 students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to the University and community. Several community leaders are scheduled to present various awards during the event. <P/> <P>Franks is a graduate of Louisiana College with a bachelor of arts in religious education and a minor in psychology. She has been employed at Rapides Regional since 1980. She is a charter member and served as coordinator of the Quality Council-the group responsible for the development and implementation of Continuous Quality Improvement at Rapides Regional Medical Center. She is a frequent speaker for churches, civic and professional organizations, as well as state and national conventions. <P/> <P>Franks currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Central Louisiana and on the Legislative Committee for the Chamber of Commerce. She is a past president of the Health Care Education Association and served on the Louisiana Quality Foundation in several capacities. She was also president of the Louisiana College Alumni Executive Board for 2 years. <P/> <P>Franks is married to Douglas and has one daughter, Erin.
