<p>The forty-fourth annual Ms. LSU Alexandria Pageant, “A Night of Broadway,” will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex. The public is invited to attend this event where five ladies will compete for a Chancellor’s Scholarship worth $1000 and the opportunity to represent LSU Alexandria for the 2004-2005 school year. Tickets for the event are $5 and can be purchased at the LSU Alexandria Accounting Services office or at the door the night of the event. <p/> <p>The contestants are Nickeitra Allen, Jessica Baker, Kayla Dauzat, Dawn Dupuy and Breean Giroir. <p/> <p>Nickeitra Allen of Cheneyville is a sophomore majoring in nursing. Her platform topic is “No Child Left Behind.” <p/> <p>Jessica Baker is a freshman radiologic technology major from Jena. “Kinship Care: Keeping the Family Tree Intact” is her platform topic. <p/> <p>Kayla Dauzat of Marksville is a freshman majoring in nursing. Her platform topic is “Character Counts for Pediatrics with Psychiatric Needs.” <p/> <p>Dawn Dupuy is a freshman from Alexandria majoring in general studies. “Promoting Professional Practices in Reconstructive Surgery” is her platform topic. <p/> <p>Breean Giroir of Pineville is a freshman majoring in veterinary medicine. Her platform topic is “Adult Literacy.” <p/> <p>The Ms. LSU Alexandria pageant is open to all female students regardless of age or marital status. The pageant will include casual wear and evening wear competitions. An interview session by the judges will be held prior to the event. A People’s Choice Award, Director’s Award, Ms. Congeniality, and first and second runners-up will be presented, followed by the crowning of Ms. LSU Alexandria 2004 by Bridget Soileau, Ms. LSU Alexandria 2003. <p/> <p>Mrs. Melissa C. LaBorde, director of Institutional Advancement at LSU Alexandria, will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening. Entertainment will be provided by Casey Desselle, Miss Bunkie; Annie Firmin, Jr. Miss Marksville; Richard Gwartney of Alexandria; Amy Roszell, Miss Marksville; Marlene Roney of Alexandria; and the Pineville High School Performing Arts. <p/> <p>For more information about the pageant, contact LSU Alexandria Student Services at 473-6545. <p/>
