TRACY JOHNSON OF POLLOCK RECEIVES THREE AWARDS

<p> Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) presented over 115 awards to 85 students during its 36th Annual Honors Day Convocation held on Monday, April 27, 1998. Dr. Patsy Jenkins, superintendent of schools for the Rapides Parish School District, presented the convocation address. </p><p> The LSU Outstanding Senior College Student award was presented to Tracy Renae Johnson of Pollock by Janice Guillory, director LSU Teacher Education program at LSUA. Ms. Johnson was also honored as the recipient of the medal for academic excellence in elementary education. For outstanding community service, Ms. Johnson received the Phi Delta Kappa Award for the Most Outstanding Student Teacher from the LSU Teacher Education Program at LSUA. </p><p> Other Grant Parish students who received honors were freshman Daniel Brown, of Pollock, who received a medal for academic excellence in speech and was recognized for maintaining a 3.5 or greater grade point average(GPA). Also, sophomore-plus Sara Bashrum, of Bentley, received a certificate for a 3.5 or greater GPA. </p><p> Jessica M. Smith of Colfax received a scholarship to attend Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. </p>
