1999 MS. LSUA PAGEANT

<p> The thirty-ninth annual Ms. LSUA Pageant, Back to the Future, will be held on Saturday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex. The public is invited to attend the event where six ladies will compete for the crown and the opportunity to represent Louisiana State University at Alexandria for the 1999-2000 year. </p><p> Contestant No. 1, Margaret Darlene Gotte, is a sophomore computer information technology major. Her platform is "Aids Education." </p><p> Contestant No. 2, Frances Alexandria Beaubouef, is a sophomore majoring in clinical lab technology whose platform is "The Benefits of a Successful College Education." </p><p> Cindy Lynn Jameson, contestant No. 3, is a sophomore majoring in nursing. Her platform is "Coping with Tourette&acute;s Syndrome." </p><p> Alicia LeAnn Young, contestant No. 4, is a freshman from Alexandria majoring in nursing. Her platform is "Benefits of Extracurricular Activities in School and in the Community." </p><p> Contestant No. 5, Dawn Richmond Scallan, is a sophomore majoring in elementary education. Dawn&acute;s platform is "Respect for Children at Home and at School." </p><p> Sharone Nicole Gillion, contestant No. 6, is a freshman nursing student from Alexandria. Her platform is "Abortion." </p><p> The pageant will include a casual wear competition and evening wear competition. The interview session will be held separately. A People&acute;s Choice Award, Ad Sales Winner, Ms. Congeniality, and First and Second Runners-Up will be announced, and then the crowning of Ms. LSUA 1999 will take place. </p><p> Melissa LaBorde, director of Institutional Advancement at LSUA, will be the Mistress of Ceremonies. Kelsey Ann Lemoine, who is Miss Avoyelles Parish, and Dr. Steven Jackson, associate professor of English, will provide entertainment. There will also be door prizes awarded to members of the audience. </p><p> Tickets for the event are $5 each and are available at the LSUA Accounting Office. Call 473-6545 for more information </p>
