<p> The Division of Continuing Education and Technology at Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) is offering three water courses in their indoor swimming pool located in the Physical Education Building this summer. </p><p> All of the courses have a fee of $31 per month with a discount of $6 per month for continuously enrolled participants. Classes meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with registration on a monthly basis. </p><p> Aquacise provides a routine of specifically designed exercises which uses the water&acute;s natural buoyancy and resistance. Exercises are conducted in shallow and/or deep water. Aquacise meets from 2:30 p.m. until 3:25 p.m. with Mrs. Faye Reynolds leading the class. Exercises are suitable for all levels of physical ability and water orientation and participants determine their own program intensity. </p><p> Additionally, two Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Programs Plus are offered-one for deep water and one in shallow water. The Deep Water program has no impact. Both programs are within the capabilities of most people with arthritis. </p><p> The Deep Water session meets from 3:30 p.m. until 4:25 p.m. Participants must provide Aqua Jogger or instructor-approved buoyancy apparatus. The Shallow Water session meets from 4:30 p.m. until 5:25 p.m. </p><p> Both of the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program Plus courses are taught by Bobbie Berlin. Participants should have functional and relatively comfortable shoulder and elbow motion and be able to tolerate a 10-20 minute aquatic endurance component without excessive pain, fatigue, or shortness of breath. </p><p> For more information, contact the Division of Continuing Education and Technology at 473-6495 or 473-6445. </p>
