<p> Lillian Wooley, instructor of English and chair of the Department of Arts, English and Humanities at LSUA, received the 1999 Robert W. Wylie Service Award from the Two-Year College English Association. The award, which is the highest honor of the association, was presented to Ms. Wooley at the Southwest Regional Conference held October 14-16 in Tulsa. </p><p> The southwest region of the Two-Year College English Association includes schools from Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. </p><p> Ms. Wooley was surprised when her name was called for the award. The nominations are done by secret ballot and she was not aware that she was a nominee. </p><p>

"Winning this award was the highlight of my career as a college English instructor," Ms. Wooley said. "I was truly surprised because I didn&acute;t even know I had been nominated. What a great honor!" she said. "I&acute;m certainly not surprised that Ms. Wooley won such an award," said Chancellor Robert Cavanaugh. "She is an outstanding faculty member and department chair. We are fortunate to have her as part of our faculty." </p>
