LSU Alexandria to Host Free Forums in October

Central Louisiana residents are invited to attend two Free Forums at LSU Alexandria in October. Free Forums provide an opportunity to meet with various LSU Alexandria faculty or staff and community leaders for refreshments and conversation in their field of study. <p> <strong>USING SAMPLES TO REPRESENT POPULATIONS</strong>-Participants will explore sampling and variables which affect sampling through a discovery activity. Various types of surveys will be discussed, as well as the distinction between samples and populations. This session is appropriate for students and teachers. It will be held Monday, October 6, from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. </p><p> <strong>BEGINNING CHESS</strong>-This forum is an introduction to the game, where you’ll learn the names of the pieces, how to make moves, the basic rules, and become familiar with some of the tactics and strategies. It will be held Thursday, October 9 from 6 until 8 p.m. </p><p> Free Forums are sponsored by the Bank of Lecompte and will be held monthly through November. The programs are free, but pre-registration is encouraged.
