2001 MS. LSUA Pageant

<p> The forty-first annual Ms. LSUA Pageant will be held on Saturday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the Barbara Brumfield Caffey Annex. The public is invited to attend this event where eleven ladies will compete for the opportunity to win a Chancellor&acute;s Scholarship worth $800 in addition to representing Louisiana State University at Alexandria for the 2001-2002 school year. Tickets for the event are $5 and can be purchased at the LSUA Accounting Office or at the door the night of the event. </p><p> The contestants are Lacey Allred, Amanda Babb, Tessa Eubanks, Genese Green, Amanda Henry, Misty Herron, Luchette Hudson, Lydia Jefferson, Katie Quebeduaux, Paulley Rabalais, and Elisha Thomas. </p><p> Ms. Allred of Pineville is a freshman majoring in pre-medicine. Her platform topic is "Alzheimer&acute;s disease." </p><p> Ms. Babb is a sophomore elementary education major from Forest Hill whose platform topic is "Parental involvement in education." </p><p>

Ms. Eubanks of Bunkie is a sophomore pre-medicine major. "Why every complete education should include the study of music" is her platform topic. </p><p> Ms. Green is a sophomore elementary education major from Alexandria whose platform is "Domestic violence." </p><p> Ms. Henry of Glenmora is also a sophomore majoring in elementary education. Her platform topic is "Encouraging teen mothers in higher education." </p><p> Ms. Herron is a freshman psychology major from Pineville whose platform topic is Self-esteem: How it affects careers and self-expression." </p><p> Ms. Hudson of Alexandria is a freshman majoring in early childhood education. Her platform topic is "Promoting an awareness of autism in children." </p><p> Ms. Jefferson is a freshman accounting major from Alexandria whose platform is "Attitude and personality: Is it time for an attitude adjustment?" </p><p> Ms. Quebedeaux of Marksville is a sophomore majoring in broadcast journalism. Her platform topic is "Enhancing the college experience through extracurricular activities." </p><p> Ms. Rabalais is a sophomore elementary education major from Evergreen whose platform is "Community sponsored after school centers for children." </p><p> Ms. Thomas of Pineville is a sophomore majoring in nursing. "Wellness of mind and body" is her platform topic. </p><p> The pageant will include casual wear and evening wear competitions. An interview session by the judges will be held prior to the event. A People&acute;s Choice Award, Ms. Congeniality, and First and Second Runners-Up will be awarded, followed by the crowning of Ms. LSUA 2001 by Mrs. Brandy Brunson, Ms. LSUA 2000. </p><p> Mrs. Brunson will be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening. The theme for the pageant is "Reaching for the Stars" and will include entertainment by LSUA student Ms. Jacey Cornell, Dr. Steven Jackson, associate professor of English at LSUA and Marlene&acute;s Dance Academy of Marksville. </p><p> For more information, contact LSUA Student Services at 473-6545. </p>
