LSUA Student Named All-American Collegiate Scholar

<p> LSUA student William Benel of Alexandria was recently named an All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy (USAA). Benel is the son of Ron and Carol Benel of Virginia. He is the grandson of Betty Ledbetter of Pineville and Mary Vineyard of Hyblo Valley, Va. </p><p> The organization established the All-American Collegiate Award Program to offer deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines. The All-American Achievement Scholars must earn a 3.3 gpa or higher. However, only those scholars selected by a school official or other qualified sponsor are accepted. </p><p>

Benel was nominated by Dr. Randy Stovall, vice chancellor for academic affairs at LSUA. As immediate past-president of the Student Government Association, Benel has been very active in the LSUA four-year effort. He received the Col. W. R. Middleton Award this past spring which is LSUA&acute;s highest student honor. </p>
