LSUA Free Forums in October

<p> Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) is offering three Free Forums in October through the Division of Continuing Education. LSUA Free Forums are sponsored by the Bank of Lecompte and offered to the public at no charge. Pre-registration is required by calling (318) 473-6495. </p><p> On Monday, October 1, Dr. Tommy Awtry, associate professor of mathematics at LSUA, will lead a session titled "Connecting Mathematics to Art." Participants will investigate the mathematics of reflections, rotations and tessellations which account for the visual symmetry underlying many art and craft forms. The session will be held from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. in Oakland Hall. </p><p> "Stop Selling and Start Listening" is the topic of the Free Forum led by Lafe Jones, director of Continuing Education, to be held on Tuesday, October 16 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. This session is co-sponsored by the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce and will meet in the Chamber of Commerce Conference Room. Participants will discuss successful marketing planning and marketing tools. It will highlight cost-effective marketing and advertising strategies for small businesses, professionals and non-profit organizations. </p><p> Lillian Wooley, assistant professor of English, will lead a forum on "Business Communication and Etiquette" on Thursday, October 25 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. She will discuss written and verbal communication in the workplace and offer basic business etiquette tips and discuss common mistakes.
