LSUA November Continuing Education Courses

<p> The Division of Continuing Education at Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) is offering a variety of non-credit courses in November. LSUA provides these opportunities for personal growth, development and self-enrichment as part of its commitment to lifelong learning. All classes require pre-registration, which includes payment of fees, and meet on the LSUA campus unless otherwise noted. </p><p> The Basics of Investing-This course will begin with the very basics of finance, including examining some of the most common reasons why people fail to meet their investment goals, tips to avoid these traps, and rules every investor should know. Jeff Draughon will examine the different types of investments and the advantages and disadvantages of each. The class will meet on Thursdays, Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13, and 20 at the University Center on England Air Park from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. with a fee of $25. </p><p> Chess-The Basics-Have fun while learning a new game. Beginners and intermediates are welcome to register. The class will take place on Tuesdays, Nov. 20 and 27 from 3 until 4:30 p.m. The fee for the class is $25 plus the text and Dr. Bill Calbeck will be the instructor. </p><p> Collecting Bad Debt-What can I do if people owe me money? This course will cover strategies and legal guidelines for collecting debt. The course will be held on Friday, Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the University Center on England Airpark. The instructor is Ronnie Beard, Attorney at Law and the fee is $30.
