LSUA´s Empty Space Players Season Opener

<p> The Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) Empty Space Players opening production for the 2001-2002 season is "The Madwoman of Chaillot" by Jean Giraudoux. Please note that the dates of the production have been changed. The production will run from Nov. 16 through Nov. 20. The play opens Friday, Nov. 16 with a 1 p.m. matinee and a 7:30 p.m. performance. There are nightly performances at 7:30 p.m. on Nov 17, 19 and 20. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Nov. 18. All performances take place in the Physical Education Building, Room 206. General admission is $8 and student admission is $3. Reservations should be made by calling Richard Gwartney at 473-6467. </p><p> The play is a kind of poetic and comic fable set in the twilight zone of the not-quite-true. A group of promoters plot to tear up Paris in order to unearth oil. The Madwoman of Chaillot, who is the very essence of practical worldly goodness and common sense, sees through this scheme and has the despoilers tried and condemned to extermination so that joy, justice and love returns to the world. </p><p> Richard Gwartney, director of theatre and assistant professor of speech, will be directing the production. Erin Andrews will serve as stage manager. The cast, which includes students, faculty and members of the community, follows: Donald Caplan, Philemon Chapman, Jacey Cornell, Amy Cross, Jessica Double, Dan Forrest, Bernard Gallagher, Jeremy George, Eamon Halpin, Steve Jackson, Marjorie Jarrell, Kathy Kelly, Tammy Killian-Bush, Cassie Mealer, Braxton Mitchell, Kimberly Patton, Katie Quebedeaux, Belle Rollins, Wanda Schenk, Dylon VanMol, Eva VanMol, Valerie Verzyvelt, Tony Vincent, Thomas Ward, and Loren Wisniewski. </p>
