The LSU Alexandria Generals baseball team and the Lady Generals softball team will each take their game to the next level as both teams were selected for participation in the Association of Independent Institutions’ championship tournament, May 1-3 in Victoria, Texas.
The Generals are in the midst of their best season to date, having won 11 of their last 12 games. Their current record is 28-13. The Lady Generals’ overall record is 15-23. This is the second consecutive year that the Lady Generals have been invited to participate in the tournament.
LSUA’s Lady Generals will be back in action at home on Tuesday, April 9, as they take on Grambling State University in a double-header that begins at 2 p.m.
The Generals will host Houston-Victoria for a four-game series next weekend, with a single game on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a double-header on Saturday that begins at 1 p.m., and will wrap up the series with a 2 p.m. Sunday game.
Friday will also be “youth baseball night” at the Generals’ game. Young people and two guests will be admitted to the game for free.
Little league players will have the opportunity to run out to their positions on the field during the national anthem. They will also have the chance to run the bases that night.
