LSU Alexandria will hold a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Jerry Myrick Plaza at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. The public is invited to attend.
The plaza encompasses the area between the Brumfield Caffey Annex and the Multipurpose Academic Center on LSU Alexandria campus. The plaza incorporates seating areas and plantings, and is an aesthetically pleasing connection between the two buildings.
Moreover, it ties into the LSUA Quad, resulting in a much larger “academic mall”.
Jerry Myrick, for whom the plaza is named, taught history at LSU Alexandria for 30 years and was director of the Children’s Academic Program for Summer for 13 years. He died on June 5, 1997.
