Released: 10/04/2001

Official enrollment figures for the fall semester at LSUA confirmed that enrollment at the university has increased again. Student enrollment is 2,715 students, up14 percent from last fall´s enrollment of 2,384. The school also saw an increase in students during the summer term.

"We felt like the numbers would be up again, and the official count confirmed it," said LSUA Chancellor Robert Cavanaugh. "I think this increase reflects the community´s excitement over getting our conversion to four-year status passed this year after decades of work," he said.

"Enrollment numbers are also up at Northwestern and Louisiana College indicating that our change in status is unlikely to harm any institution," Cavanaugh said. "It also appears that central Louisiana students are realizing the tremendous importance of higher education now more than at any time in the past."

For information on how to enroll at LSUA for the spring semester, call 427-4415 or visit
