Released: 10/22/2001

Applications are now being accepted for Nonprofit Management Program 2002, a series of leadership workshops presented by The Rapides Foundation, Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) and Louisiana State University in Shreveport (LSUS). This comprehensive six-month program features monthly one-day workshops for nonprofit managers, supervisors and board members in Rapides Parish. The six topics to be covered are financial management, board recruitment and development, fundraising, collaboration, strategic planning, and program development.

The cost for the entire six-month program is $60.00. This fee indicates personal and organizational commitment to the program. The Rapides Foundation is underwriting the cost of the program. Each workshop includes a lecture, coaching and activities to facilitate learning. Regionally and nationally recognized instructors will present standard practices and "real-world" everyday applications on each topic. Participants will receive a recommended book for each workshop. Lunch will also be provided. After successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Only 20 participants will be selected for the program. Candidates will be selected in an effort to create a diverse and more effective class. The class will consist of both experienced and new nonprofit leaders. Applications will be evaluated based on the candidate´s and the organization´s goals. If a participant applies and is not invited to participate in the 2002 program, they are encouraged to apply again in future years. The 2002 program is available to nonprofit leaders in Rapides Parish. However, future programs will focus on other communities in Central Louisiana.

All workshops will be held at the University Center at England Airpark in Alexandria.
