Holiday comedy to open new Black Box Theatre at LSUA

Released: 11/07/2011

A Possum Grape Christmas LIVE! will be the inaugural production for LSUA's new Black Box Theatre. The show will open on Thursday, Nov. 10 with a cocktail reception in the theatre lobby beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by the opening performance at 7:30 p.m. Reservations are encouraged and may be made by calling 318-473-6537.

The production was written by Dr. Rhonda Shook, interim director of theatre, and is directed by faculty member Robert Harper. The show is described as a "slightly irreverent holiday comedy" sure to bring a smile just in time for the holiday season.

Reflecting Shook's outlandish sense of humor, the promotional poster for A Possum Grape Christmas LIVE! boasts a warning for "mild profanity, partial nudity, alcohol consumption, off-key singing, spastic dancing, strobe lights, open flames, small explosions and a microwave on the premises. In other words...FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY." The theatre is set to seat 125 audience members for this production which will run nightly Nov. 10-12 and 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. Matinee performances will be on Nov. 13 and 20 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission, $10 Seniors 65+, and $5 for students with ID. For reservations contact Shook at 318-473-6573.
