Generals Doubleheader International Public Debate Association Tournament set

The LSU Alexandria Speech and Debate Team and the Upsilon Tau chapter of the Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Honor Society will host the GENERALS DOUBLEHEADER IPDA DEBATE TOURNAMENT, Oct. 14 through 16 on the LSUA campus.

IPDA stands for the International Public Debate Association, a debate tradition foucsed on swift case-building and proficient extemporaneous speaking.

The double tournament is named for the LSUA Generals ball teams, and awards reflect the baseball theme. At least 70 competitors from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and West Virginia are expected to compete.

Registration begins Friday, Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m. with Game One rounds beginning at 11:30 a.m. and concluding by 9 p.m.

Finals rounds for Game One begin Saturday at 8:00 a.m. Game Two rounds run from 12:30 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Game Two finals will start on Sunday morning, Oct. 16 at 9 a.m. and competition will continue through 2 p.m.
