LSUA Presents Student Service Awards

The Office of Student Services at LSU Alexandria has presented awards for outstanding service to a student, student organization and faculty member for the 2010-11 academic year, announced Kyra Turner, coordinator of student life.

Caina Munson, president of Student Government, was selected Student Organization Leader of the Year for “staying on task, adaptability, strengthening the reputation of Student Government and sense of humor while becoming known as one of the finest student leaders at LSUA.” She is a senior psychology major from Marksville.

Baptist Collegiate Ministries was honored as Student Organization of the Year. The award is presented to the student organization that earns the most “service points” for campus involvement and activities relevant to its mission.

Dr. Susan Sullivan, associate professor of biology, was named Student Organization Advisor of the Year for her work with the Biology Student Organization, which promotes academic and research opportunities and coordinates a recycling program. She has been faculty advisor for eight years.
