LSUA Students Win 19 Awards in Statewide Business Competition

LSU Alexandria students captured 19 first or second place awards – more than any institution -- at the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) statewide competition for business students, announced Dr. Cathy Denison, LSUA PBL faculty advisor and assistant professor of management. More than a dozen schools in Louisiana are members of PBL, which is the largest business career organization in the world when combined with its high school counterpart, Future Business Leaders of America.

The following winners from LSUA qualified for national PBL competition in Orlando, Fla., in June. They are listed by category, place, classification and hometown.

Accounting Analysis and Decision Making – Jennifer Theriot, first, senior, Lecompte.

Accounting for Professionals – Jose’ Aguiluz, first, senior, Forest Hill; Bryan Harper, second, senior, Pineville.

Accounting Principles – Ashley Carpenter, second, sophomore, Elizabeth.

Business Law – Richard Emberly, first, senior, Alexandria; Michael Lemoine, second, junior, Ville Platte.

Client Service -- Jennifer Smith, first, junior, Pineville.

Computer Concepts – Dustin Novo, first, junior, Mansura.

Financial Services (team) – Sarah Bennett, first, senior, Lecompte and Bryan Harper, senior, Pineville.

Impromptu Speaking -- Rhonda Johnson, first, senior, Pineville; Jennifer Smith, second, junior, Pineville.

Job Interview – Amanda Austin, first, junior, Simmesport.

Justice Administration – James Schopper, first, senior, Deville; Josh Michel, second, senior, Simmesport.

Management Concepts – Richard Emberly, first, senior, Alexandria; Kendra Woods, second, junior, Pineville.

Marketing Concepts – Michael Lemoine, second, junior, Ville Platte.

Public Speaking – Amanda Austin, first, junior, Simmesport; Megan Clark, second, junior, Moreauville.
