Annual LSUA Mardi Gras Parade to Roll March 2

Released: 02/17/2011

Some 30 floats are scheduled to roll at noon March 2 at the annual Mardi Gras parade on streets bordering the LSU Alexandria campus quadrangle, announced Kyra Turner, coordinator of student life. The public is invited to collect beads, mementos and candy tossed by the participants.

Most of the floats are sponsored by student and campus organizations, and there are a few off-campus entries. “This is a fun, family-oriented event for our students and the community,” said Turner. “There is no charge to attend.”

The parade lasts about an hour. Prizes are awarded for the best floats in student organization and campus department categories.
