Summa Cum Laude Kylie Andrews Heads Graduating Class

Kylie Andrews of Olla graduated summa cum laude (minimum 3.9 grade point average) and received the Chancellor’s Award for highest baccalaureate GPA at LSU Alexandria’s fall commencement. Andrews, who earned a bachelor of arts degree in English, completed her coursework with perfect grades.

Amanda Adams of Boyce and Kelli Deshotel of Ville Platte won the Chancellor’s Award for associate-degree graduates. Both earned associate degrees in nursing.

Magna cum laude graduates (minimum 3.7 GPA) were Alice Wilson, bachelor of science, business administration, Alexandria; Clifton Doughty, bachelor of science, business administration, Pineville; Kameron Canbaz, bachelor of science, business administration, Alexandria; Morgan McCann, bachelor of science, elementary education, Glenmora; and Alyssa Fontenot, bachelor of science, business administration, Ville Platte.

The graduating class consisted of 84 baccalaureate and 62 associate degrees. LSUA has conferred 6,594 associate and baccalaureate degrees in its 50-year history. Baccalaureate degrees, which have been awarded since December 2003, number 908.

Alexandria businessmen Blake Chatelain, president of Red River Bank and immediate past chairman of the LSU Board of Supervisors, and financial services executive Michael Jenkins, chairman of the LSUA 50th Anniversary Committee and former president of the LSUA Foundation, were presented Distinguished Service Awards. Both are LSUA alumni.

The graduation speaker was Stephen Moret, secretary of Louisiana Economic Development.
