Former LSUA Prof Patsy Barber to Lecture on Josiah Chambers

Dr. Patsy Barber, a retired professor of business administration at LSU Alexandria, will lecture on Josiah Chambers, the original owner of Oakland Plantation, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Alexandria Museum of Art. The free event is sponsored by Friends of the Bolton Library at LSUA.

LSUA occupies land that was part of Oakland Plantation. Chambers received a Spanish land grant of 6,000 acres on Bayou Beouf to establish the plantation in the 18th century.

Barber, an original member of the LSUA faculty, has researched and published books and articles on Central Louisiana history.
