May Free Forums at LSUA

<p> The community has the opportunity to attend three different Free Forums at Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) in May. Free Forums provide an opportunity to meet with various LSUA faculty/staff and community leaders for refreshments and conversation in their field of study. Free Forums are brought to you as a public service at no charge and are sponsored by the Bank of Lecompte. Pre-registration is required by phoning the Division of Continuing Education at 473-6495 due to limited seating. </p><p> Ready for Success...From the Resume to the Interview-This class will give you tips that will make the difference! Discussion will include interview techniques and job packet materials. Participants will also have the opportunity to develop a resume. The class will meet on Tuesday, May 7 from 5:30 until 8 p.m. The instructor will be Lillian Wooley, assistant professor of English at LSUA. </p><p> Reducing Stress-This session will explore early warning signs of stress and teach management techniques for acute and chronic stress. Effective approaches and timely tips for all environments, including home, work and play will equip participants to cope with stress. This session is being offered on Tuesday, May 21from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Wanda Guidry, MSN, RN, head of the Division of Nursing and Health Sciences, will conduct the session. </p><p> Talking with Children about Scary Things-Come learn how to talk with children openly and honestly about the scary images and news reports with which we are bombarded on a daily basis. Rosemary Robertson-Smith will lead the discussion on Thursday, May 23 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Robertson-Smith is the director of LSUA&acute;s Children Center. </p><p> To register or receive more information on the Free Forums, contact the Division of Continuing Education at (318) 473-6495. </p>
