Shelby Lynne Martin, a freshman nursing student from Anacoco, was crowned Ms. LSUA at the 50th annual Ms. LSUA Pageant, announced pageant director Kathryn Wimmert. Martin will receive a $1,000 scholarship and represent LSU Alexandria at various official functions in the next academic year.
Meagan Leigh Henagan, a freshman English student from Pineville, was chosen first runner-up and will receive a $500 scholarship. Henagan also won the People’s Choice Award.
Kelly Louise Chelette, a junior clinical lab technology major from Pineville, was selected second runner-up. She also won the Scholastic Achievement Award.
Contestants compete in casual and formal wear categories in addition to participating in a pre-pageant interview with a three-member panel of judges from the community. The Ms. LSUA Pageant has been held every year since 1961.
Jamie LeAnne Funderburk, a sophomore psychology major from Pineville, is the outgoing Ms. LSUA.
