Sigma Kappa Sigma, Chancellor's Office Win Mardi Gras Float Awards

Sigma Kappa Sigma sorority won first place in the Organizations Division, and the Office of the Chancellor captured the blue ribbon in the Departmental Division of the float competition at the annual LSU Alexandria mardi gras parade, announced Renisha Beaudion, coordinator of student life.

The movie “Grease” was the theme of the winning Sigma Kappa Sigma float, and the Office of the Chancellor float featured the “Fabulous ‘50s.”

The Writing Center float, which depicted Louisiana swamps, and the Student Nurses Assn., featuring nurses in action, captured second and third place, respectively, in the Organizations Division. The Staff Senate, whose members depicted Roman senators, was runner-up in the Departmental Division.

There were 30 floats in the 12th annual LSUA mardi gras parade.
