LSUA to Host College Goal Sunday Financial Aid Seminar

Released: 02/03/2010

LSU Alexandria will host College Goal Sunday – a free seminar to assist students and parents with financial aid – Feb. 21 from 2-4 p.m. at the Technology Center (Nipper Building). The seminar is open to all prospective college students regardless of the institution they plan to attend.

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before they are eligible for state or federal assistance. This includes the state TOPS and Go Grant programs, and federal Pell Grant, loans and Federal Work/Study. College Goal Sunday, which regionally rotates among campuses annually, is presented by the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance.

“Completing FAFSA can be difficult,” said Teresa Seymour, LSUA executive director of enrollment management/registrar. “We’ll provide financial aid professionals to guide students and their parents through the entire process. Computer labs will be open so that FAFSA can be completed and submitted electronically that day on site.” Admissions criteria and other information also will be available.

A 2009 federal tax return is required to finish the FAFSA form. Other helpful information is available at It is recommended that participants click the register link for planning purposes.
