Ms. LSUA Contestants Face Jan. 21 Deadline

Released: 01/07/2010

The deadline to enter the 2010 Ms. LSUA Pageant is Jan. 21, announced Kathryn Wimmert, pageant coordinator and counselor in the Office of Student Services. The pageant is open to any part- or full-time LSU Alexandria student with a minimum 12 hours of college credit and a 2.5 cumulative grade point average. Contestants also must be active in a university organization.

The pageant, which has been held annually since 1961, will be held April 17. The winner receives a $1,000 Chancellor’s Scholarship and represents LSUA at official functions.

Pageant registration forms are available in Room 206 of the Office of Student Services. Additional information is available from Wimmert at 473-6545.

Ms. LSUA contestants participate in a pre-pageant interview conducted by three members of the community and are judged in casual and evening wear presentations of their platform topics at the pageant. Wimmert said contestants should have a working knowledge of the university and current events.
