Nationally Recognized Author to Teach

<p> A nationally-recognized author and instructor will teach the next Nonprofit Management 2003 class Friday, Feb. 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rapides Parish Learning Center, England Air Park. <p></p> Kathleen S. Kelly, Ph.D., APR, Fellow PRSA, is a professor and coordinator of the Public Relations Degree Program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she also holds the Hubert J. Bourgeois Endowed Research Professorship. <p></p>

Dr. Kelly is the author of two books, including the first academic textbook on fund raising, and more than 30 articles, book chapters, and monographs. Her research contributions have earned her several national awards, including the 1999 Jackson, Jackson & Wagner Behavioral Science Prize from the Public Relations Society of America and the 1995 Pathfinder Award from the Institute for Public Relations. <p></p>

In addition to her teaching and research, she is a member of the National Accrediting Committee of ACEJMC, the Board of Trustees of IPR, and the Commission on Public Relations Education. <p></p>

Twenty directors, employees and board members of nonprofit organizations in central Louisiana were accepted in Nonprofit Management 2003. This comprehensive eight-month program is presented by The Rapides Foundation and coordinated by LSU Alexandria Continuing Education. <p></p>

Dr. Kelly will focus on fundraising in her Nonprofit Management class. In upcoming months, the program participants will also focus on financial management, board recruitment, strategic planning, program development, evaluation and collaboration. <p></p>
